(Hello!)

I'm Rachael - a writer/director from Bradford, UK.

My short film Huggo (2023), starring Siobhan Finneran and Bebe Cave kickstarted my career in professional screenwriting, before my directorial debut with Hard Feelings (2026).

I obtained a Distinction MA in Writing for the Stage and Broadcast Media at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (2021), and won the Programme Prize and Dissertation Prize at York St. John University (2015) - where I also graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre.

I am a published short story author, film blogger, interviewer and critic; with my essays on cinema theory being used in academia at Newcastle University, and film reviews featured on BBC Culture.

My film projects have been showcased on BBC News, alongside my arduous experience as a working-class student at Royal Central during the COVID pandemic.

I run the Instagram account Cinemablographer, and have written for online publications such as MetroBorrowing TapeGirls on Tops and Film Inquiry.

My artistic interests include narrative work around the female, working-class experience, and I draw on themes of love, loss and hope in a bid to create catharsis and ripples of change in wider society.

Ey-up.
